Durham Paddlesport Club

Canoeing

Durham Paddlesports Club is a Charity encouraging participation in paddle sport: primarily kayak, canoe, and paddleboard. Our objectives are to provide the opportunity for members to gain experience to progress from flat sheltered waters at our base on the river wear in Durham city, through to enjoying the exhilaration of white water kayaking on open rivers.

We offer a combination of summer club nights in Durham, fully coached and peer paddles on rivers, lakes, and the coast.

Club members include those with coaches who have British Canoeing Coaching Qualifications and are passionate about helping members progress through the British Canoeing awards. We emphasize a safe, fun, knowledge-sharing environment with a strong social element aimed at the 11 years + age group.

In addition to the formal coached club sessions, our club nights offer those with appropriate skill levels the opportunity to have fun on the river during club night in their own craft or club craft not being used for coaching. We as a club encourage all competent paddlers to acquire their own equipment however the club offers a fleet of craft (kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards) for hire for club nights
